News - Many new publications on hedgehogs are available!
New German publication from Pro Igel!"The hedgehog in the vet’s practice"
The expanded, completely revised and newly updated edition of “The Hedgehog in the Vet’s Practice” by
veterinary surgeon Barbara Zaltenbach-Hanßler has just been published. This publication for vets now contains
36 instead of 24 pages with a lot of new information on hedgehog treatment including additional expert advice
from other vets, experienced hedgehog carers and rescue centres.
Over the past few years various medicines have been withdrawn from the market e.g. Citarin L (Bayer) which was
effective against lungworm. The updated booklet lists alternative currently available products. New discoveries
about hedgehog diseases and their treatment are also found in this publication.
The book has been re-structured and is even more clearly designed. Legal requirements which form the basis of effective
hedgehog care are also included. The bibliography has been expanded and contains useful web addresses for vets.
